Pros: none

Cons: two many to list

Comments: Can not believe how bad #Telstra is, the worst australian company !! We have had a broken cabel it has been 3 weeks and we still do NOT have a date of when they are going to repair it. Both my husband and I have our owe business and tring to run it from our home office. We have no foxtel so no TV and no internet, having to hotspot phones etc to get work done. More than 6 phone calls all of which are more than an hour or two long. Who needs this kind of hassel not to mention the cost!! I have no idea what more we can do all they keep telling us that it will be fixed by the 30th of november. we called them to report lost of internet on the 29th of October. What business gets away with that? Has anyone else had this much crap from TELSTRA ??
Please share if you are annoyed or had trouble with telstra

Pros: None

Cons: Lies, Contradictions, Poor Service

Comments: We arrived in Brisbane a month ago and just wanted others who are arriving to know that we had an absolutely terrible experience with trying to get connected to broadband with Telstra, we opted for them as they are the biggest company, and I needed connecting to broadband quickly for work. However, they have consistently lied about when we would be connected; receive our router and when our Foxtel would be connected. Every single person we have spoken to has pretty much contradicted everyone else we spoke to and we were no where being connected after almost 4 weeks when we were told we would be connected within 48 hrs! The pathetic excuses and damn right lies and contradictions were incredible, which like them I told them I had recorded as proof. They made my awful experience with BT look good! We have cancelled and cant even get that right! my initial though was gross incompetence, however I believed they lied about cancelling us, as we have just received an email saying we have just joined a new entertainment package when in fact we have just cancelled one! I think it is a vain attempt to keep us on or charge us! We shared this with colleagues at work and it seems Telstra are renowned for this! they said it would likely be the worst experience we would have with a company in Australia!!
We tried Optus and we were told our line is RDSL which apparently means that Telstra owns the line and that they have to pay Telstra to use the line! and this meant it would cost us an extra $40 a month on top of their standard product! So we searched the net and came across Nextalk, they only use an Oz based call centre which after our experiences with Telstra was most welcome! I have to say from the minute we spoke to them it was night and day with the service we got from Telstra, they answered all our questions before we asked them as if they knew what we would ask! I was sceptical about the promises they made, however they delivered everyone of them! It was truly amazing, they told us when we got connected, within 3 days! and we did it in 2! they gave us an approximation of when the modem would arrive (3-5 days from order) and it did arrive on day 3, and with tracking notification via text. We bought their modem to avoid any potential aggro which was similar priced to shop bought ones but with theirs they can dial in to if you have any probs. It was plug and play and indeed it was, when it worked I kissed the modem today!! nextalk don't do Foxtel but I've noticed most of the programmes we like Blindspot, Hawaii 5'0 and madam secretary (Sky programmes) are available for free on the main channels, we've seen an advert for a Fetch box which adds extra channels so will look into that. Also for some reason, nextalk don't need to pay the premium Optus has to! So as we are now connected to the internet I just wanted folks to know about our experiences!!

Pros: Great speed and reliability

Cons: Price

Comments: What can I say. Bigpond has come out in front for me.

I cannot stand slow internet, so ADSL2+, Wireless and anything else below cable / nbn speeds are just not acceptable.

Bigpond stuffed up when switching me over from Optus (which just would stop moving at night due to congestion, which was through exetel at the time) but gave me a solution.

The phone number they said they could transfer over could not, so wasn't interested in a different number, so they ended up giving me the bundled discount even though I have no phone for as long as my contract goes for (24 months) , so I'm happy about that.

So now the only thing they are bad at (which was the price) became decent, so was acceptable again.

With this in mind, would rate them 8/10.

The two points would be, just bad level 1 tech support. It really is just scripted attempts.

To be fair I used to work in ISP tech support as a level 3 tech (never again) and they do a decent job which would fix a lot of the generic problems.

The other star is just price. Still a little on the high side for what I have (example others still have unlimited for what I'm paying for 500gb) but if I were to pay full price, I just wouldn't even bother going with Telstra, it is just too expensive.

Pros: Nothing. Customer service was so distant from the issue

Cons: Communications between installers, Customer service and comaplints were the worst I have experienced

Comments: Telstra tested my address and promised ADSL2+. 3 contractors later and a phone line still hadn't been installed. 5 weeks later they tell me they cant offer ADSL. Spent hours on the phone working out issues with no luck.

Pros: No contract or huge installation cost, good customer rewards.

Cons: Can take a couple weeks to get set up and if there's a fault it can take a couple weeks to get a technician out.

Comments: The internet providers are called Belong but are powered by Telstra. Took a bit over a week to get set up but all good from then on. A few months after getting it they increased are data for no extra cost. A few months later they decreased the bill!

Pros: Sometimes you have access to internet.

Cons: Phone support, onsite support, internet speed, amount of downtime,

Comments: I am not very happy with the service provided to me by Telstra, the connection speed is terrible, the reliability of connection is poor, technical support is a waste of time, features are pathetic, presales information was mostly falsified and the value for money is shocking.
With Telstra, I am receiving a connection speed of under 5mbps, this is very low and makes things hard to do quickly when online.

The reliability of the connection is terrible, it is expected that I can connect stably for a month, then all of a sudden experience a variety of different issues, including drop outs and mass decreases in speed.

The technical support provided by Telstra is very slow, to get in contact with a general ADSL support consultant generally takes up to twenty minutes, or more. When you are able to get in contact with a "technician" you will be put on hold for at least ten minutes per phone call", because these "technicians are inexperienced, they are more than likely to put you on the line with a more experience person known as a "level two technician". This is terrible support as you would expect the first person you speak with to be able to resolve issues without having to move you on to another person.
With Telstra, there are no extra features that I have received. I guess if I had to name something as a feature it'd have to be the free modem provided when subscribing for their services, this modem is useless and does not function as you would like it to, it has a slow wireless connection speed, fails to open ports and has slow firmware; making it hard to use.

Before subscribing to a Telstra ADSL service, I was speaking to them over the phone about services that would be included, speeds that should be gained and some general information about their support. Most of the information given has not been experienced yet. There was claims of faster speeds and great support; as of yet I have not experienced the speeds mentioned, or the "great" support they have for their "valued" customers.

With my current Telstra service, I am paying ninety dollars each month for slow connection, crap support and a limited download amount. In reality there should be no limit on how much we can download (Fact: Australia is the only country I know that has download limits and restrictions). When these limits are passed over, the connection speed is decreased by roughly 70%, this is very inconvenient.

In conclusion; I do not recommend Telstra to anyone, connection speeds are dreadful, connection is generally unstable, technical support is slow; and generally useless, Teltra provide no features worth having, presales information is falsified and the value for money of their services is terrible.

Pros: Great speed awesome reliability

Cons: expensive costumer service is a meh

Comments: Let me start of by dying I have just left Telstra but not because it's bad I just wanted more data... I have been with Telstra on a two year contract I have had a very very good experience with the reliability of the Internet and the speed I rarely drop from 15 Mbps and if I do about a 1mbps drop Ping is great (I am a gamer) I am less than two km from the exchange but never the less the Internet service is great the setup up was quick and easy no issues at all the speeds that are relieved when your internet is slowed are a little too slow (about 11kbps) it is very irritating when you run out, the modem they gave was great no issues on wifi or Ethernet (using Ethernet over power) Telstra has made a mistake of sending me an extra modem but that is a pro not a con costed service is a great help have resolved many issues longest period I have waited with them is two hours before we resolved the issue they have also called me a woman over the phone a couple times (not trying to be rude to me or anything my voice is a little high pitch) overall they have great reliability for me great speeds I would definitely recommend them. :p

Pros: none - scumbags...avoid them at all cost

Cons: everything - never going back to them

Comments: 24 month plan. Billing problems EVERY month. Overcharged on every bill for web usage that did NOT occur - one day I called them & told them my usage register had recorded 3.67 MB of use...all I did was turn the computer on!!! I didn't even open e-mail!!! Refuse to help customers and hang up on you after you wait 50 minutes. In the end I contacted the Telecommunications Ombudsman to have them deal with these bastards. Telstra is a mongrel company with no respect for their customers, staff or suppliers. AVOID THEM.

Pros: 24/7 helpline and technical support, reliable

Cons: expensive and has limited plans and bundles, do not offer discount for customer loyalty, takes loyal customers for granted

Comments: Telstra is by far the most expensive telecommunications co in Australia as compare to say Optus. Has limited broadband plans and takes loyal customers for granted for example, has special discount offers to new customers but is not willing to extend the special deals to existing customers even though I have been with the continuously for more than 20 old years which is pathetic. Telstra thinks their customer owes them a living. Have tried many times to get a consultant to change my plan to cable and asked for free connection but was told the offer only extends to new customers not existing loyal customer. Feels like I need to change to the competitor to show them who is boss here.

Pros: Reliable connection, few issues

Cons: Expensive, avg customer service

Comments: I switched to TELSTRA after having the worst experience with DODO. TELSTRA provides a reliable service with few issues. They aren't cheap but I suppose you get what you pay for. Customers service is average, I was unaware they charge $3 for a paper bill until after I called them why I was getting charged $3 more. All in all they are pretty good. Recommended if you live in Mount Isa. Not many other choices available in this region for reliability.

I constantly have to call them to find out about new bundles, higher speeds or upgraded equipment because it seems like once they have you in on a contract they forget about you and are uninterested in giving you the best deal/service possible.

Cons: Having to stick it up them constantly

Comments: My account was for reasons unknown put under my ex partners name, the to top it off she opened an account & they decided to put it under my name, we contacted Telstera numerous times over the past 18 months to have this matter sorted, they informed us multiple times they resolved the issue, When I log in to my account it sais Hello Abby, my names is John, & vice versa for Abbey, I've dealt with idiots before but Telstra take the icing on the cake as far as being a pathetic bunch of story tellers, every reception has a different excuse, even there so called managers
